Born in 1955 in London, he has made significant contributions to the jazz world. Crosby was a founding member of the Jazz Warriors in the 1980s and has since worked with many top international artists.
Gary is also the founder and artistic director of Tomorrow's Warriors, a talent development organization that supports young musicians pursuing careers in jazz. Additionally, Crosby leads several ensembles, including Gary Crosby's Nu Troop, Jazz Jamaica, and Jazz Jamaica All Stars.
Crosby has received numerous accolades for his work, including being appointed an OBE for Services to Music in 2009 and receiving the Queen's Medal for Music in 2018. Gary turned 70 this year, so come and listen to tales of a truly celebrated musician and hear of a fascinating and inspiring life, interspersed with some brilliant music.
‘Songs & Stories’ places a UK music luminary centre stage, alongside multi-award winner, singer, pianist and broadcaster, Shaw, up-close and personal. Shaw has interviewed (and often performed at the club with) the likes of Van Morrison, Monty Alexander, Frank Sinatra Junior, George Benson, Madeline Bell, Claire Martin, Pee Wee Ellis amongst many others.
